QIn one sentence, what am I selling?
A turnkey private-AI platform — Generate — that runs natively on the NetApp AIPod Mini and ONTAP, and turns (vectorizes) the data a customer already stores in NetApp into a governed, on-prem intelligence layer that employees and AI agents can query and act on, with zero data egress.
QWhat’s the elevator pitch to the customer?
“You’ve spent years consolidating your data on NetApp. Generate lets you run AI directly on it — inside your own walls, with nothing leaving, no per-token cloud bill, and a working stack in under 20 minutes. Same storage you already trust, now answering questions and running agents.”
QWhat business problem does Generate solve?
Every enterprise wants AI over its own documents, records, and databases — but the default path sends sensitive data to an outside provider, racks up per-token costs that scale with usage, and runs on infrastructure the customer does not control. Generate removes all three: the model runs inside the perimeter, cost is fixed to owned hardware, and the customer owns the entire stack.
QWhy is private AI suddenly urgent for my accounts?
Two forces are converging. Risk: legal, security, and compliance teams are blocking public AI for anything touching PHI, PII, financials, or IP. Cost: as teams move from pilots to production, per-token bills scale linearly and unpredictably. Running inference on-prem turns a rising variable cost into a fixed, capacity-based one — and the more the customer uses AI, the better that math looks.
QMy customer already uses Copilot or ChatGPT Enterprise. Why do they need this?
Those are great for general productivity — keep them. But they do not run inside the customer’s data center, and they cannot natively reason over the terabytes in ONTAP without data leaving the perimeter. Generate is the private layer for the data a policy will not let them upload: claims, contracts, patient records, municipal filings, source code. Position it as “the AI you can point at the data your policy won’t let you send to the cloud.”
What “private” actually requires

True private AI means control of data, models, and hardware. Anything less is just access.

Cost, dark data, and the difference

QHow does this help with the token-cost problem?
Public AI is metered per token; cost climbs with every user, agent, and document — and agentic workloads burn tokens far faster than chat. Generate’s inference runs on GPUs the customer owns, so cost is fixed to capacity, not usage. In a world of rising token prices, owning the inference engine is a financial hedge. The scale that breaks a metered cloud budget is exactly where on-prem wins.
QWhat does “unlocking the data inside NetApp” mean in dollars?
Most enterprise data is dark — stored, protected, never queried. Generate makes it answerable. A contract repository becomes a contract-analysis agent. A claims archive becomes a denial-recovery agent. An IT knowledge base becomes an incident-response agent. Stored data stops being a pure cost center and starts producing measurable output — hours saved, revenue recovered, risk reduced — without moving a single byte.
QWhat makes this different from every other AI pitch on my customer’s desk?
Three things, and they compound:
  • Private by architecture. Inference runs where the data lives — zero egress, no exceptions.
  • Turnkey. One installer, three steps, about 20 minutes. Not a 12-month build.
  • Deeply integrated with NetApp. The only agent platform this tightly wired into ONTAP at terabyte scale. Competitors have a chat box; we have a chat box plugged into NetApp’s data services.
QWhy should this matter to me as a NetApp seller?
It converts stored capacity into an active business outcome. Every terabyte in ONTAP becomes a reason to deploy AI on top of it — a named, budgeted line item that pulls storage and GPU with it. And it is a conversation you can have with a CFO or a department head, not only with IT. The buyer is closer to the budget, and the outcome is closer to the dollar.
The pitch, in one line

The old answer to “can we do AI on this?” was a slide. Now it is a SKU. That is the whole pitch.
